K-12 Content Experts

We need 250 Content Experts to help us redesign the K-12 content map!

reDesign is launching an all-call for K-12 content discipline experts from diverse backgrounds and geographies to join together this summer to re-envision the “canon” of K-12 content. From algebra, agriculture, and history, to ethics, immunology, and the performing arts, educators, professionals, and industry experts across 25 initial discipline areas will meet up for a virtual Design Studio the week of June 27th to define the essential topics and concepts of a 21st century K-12 Content Map.

What do we mean by content experts, you ask? We mean folks in the world who deeply understand and creatively apply the most essential skills and concepts of a discipline in their daily work: to teach, critique, create, produce, and design.

You might be an architect or a 2nd grade teacher of reading. You might be a physicist or a teacher of algebra. You might be an antiracist community organizer or an artist. What you all have in common is a powerful set of skills and understandings that deeply inform how you do your work, engage with your community, and lead your life. We believe these critical skills and understandings are a guidepost for redefining K-12 curriculum.

250 content experts, across varied disciplines, formed into design teams of 10. For 2021 we will start with these 25 disciplines. (More to be included over the next 2 years.)

reDesign will convene a total of 250 multicultural, disciplinary content experts, with teams of 10 experts engaging in a design process for each of these initial 25 disciplines.

Curriculum Designers-in-Residence

Open Call: 50 Curriculum “Designers-in-Residence”

reDesign’s Designers-in-Residence program seeks 50 exceptional, experienced curriculum designers who yearn to create next-generation projects that build key competencies, develop critical consciousness, and sustain, celebrate and engage the cultures and communities that our learners belong to.

So much of today’s packaged curriculum is driven by a linear, Eurocentric, standards-based sequence with few opportunities for true student-led inquiry; fails to foster agency through scaffolded and authentic high-order thinking tasks; and treats collaborative and interdependent learning as though it were cheating. We can do so much better than this

It’s time to change this and to democratize the curriculum industry in the process. We believe that YOU, the people who work closely with learners, are the ones to take it on.

We need superstar curriculum designers to create dynamic and adaptable projects for 7th-12th grade learners. To be clear, this is not a typical design exercise. We want to break the mold together. To think outside of outdated scope and sequence constraints. To address equity and justice issues. To create the curriculum that every young person deserves.
