reDesign is setting up a 10-member Youth Advisory Council this year for high school students across the country. Can you help us get the word out?
At reDesign, one of our organizational commitments is to keep learners at the forefront of all we do as we work to advance learner-centered communities.
The Youth Advisory Council is one step in service of that commitment. Our goal is to more intentionally center the voices and experiences of culturally and racially diverse young people in our work through regular focus groups, feedback cycles, and issue-based discussions.
The Youth Advisory Council will serve as a platform for young people to share their experiences and expertise as learners, and for us at reDesign to listen, learn, and demonstrate responsiveness through our designs and methods. It is also an opportunity for learners to develop collaboration, leadership, and reflection skills as they contribute to innovative design initiatives (Great for their resumes and portfolios!).
Can you help us get the word out to high school youth by sharing this flyer? We are deliberately cultivating a diverse group, representative of the myriad learners who make up our schools, especially those who may not feel particularly ‘successful’ at school or who have not yet been offered many leadership opportunities.
reDesign will be accepting applications until 5pm EDT October 7th, 2020. Youth Advisory Council positions will be compensated at $50/month (a gift card) for the 10 month commitment period. Our finalists will need to provide permission to participate from a parent or caregiver.
